Motus launches motus.cars platform

Motus, the vehicle business of Imperial Holdings that was unbundled and separately listed on the JSE, has launched its dedicated vehicle shopping website.

The company says it will showcase cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles available from its 246 dealerships at a single online location at motus.cars.

“With 10 000 vehicles in stock at any given time, consolidating all our vehicle listings on the new motus.cars website gives consumers a wider variety of vehicles to choose from and a convenient way to shop for their next car at a single online location,” said Motus Group CEO Osman Arbee.

In the past, customers searching for a pre-owned car in the Motus stable had to visit the individual online platforms.

Motus Retail and Rental SA division CEO Corné Venter said there are several other online aggregator sites in South Africa where consumers can find new and pre-owned cars but motus.cars is the first automotive retail group to launch a true, online brand in its totality.

All the used cars on the site are 100% Motus-owned, making it a safer aggregator for customers to shop for their next car.

Motus claims motus.cars is unique in that consumers can find all the information about new vehicles from all brands in one place instead of visiting the websites of various manufacturers.

Models that are of interest can then be compared with each other using various comparison tools and filters.

Apart from listing new, demo and used cars, prospective customers will have the ability to apply for finance, arrange a test drive at a Motus dealership and have access to a regularly-updated blog. A comprehensive used car inspection report is available on selected used cars.

The new motus.cars website is available across all the group brands and on all digital devices via the dedicated website.

The site also features online calculators aid to aid in determining the cost of finance and the cost of ownership, permitting consumers to make an informed decision, while finance applications are sent to all major banks to ensure customers get the best deal in terms of repayments and interest rates.

A feature on the motus.cars website allows visitors to compare cars between all brands and even between new and used listings, something which is not possible to do on other aggregator sites.

“All brands are treated equally, meaning that motorists are no longer tied to the same brand when searching for the best trade-in value on their current car,” Venter said.

Arbee added that the world is changing and the way people buy cars is continuously changing too.

“The launch of motus.cars is an investment in future proofing our business while at the same time offering customers a safe and convenient way to buy their next car, SUV and bakkie,” he said.

More than 75% of Motus customers start their car buying journey online and more than 50% of all Motus car sales originate from an online platform.

The 13 different search filters on the website allow visitors to narrow down their vehicle search according to criteria, including by province, body type, price, colour, transmission and fuel type, while another filter allows the more discerning car shopper to search by car features.

The motus.cars website also allows existing customers to book a service or repair appointment at a franchised dealer of their choice.
