Maserati, a brand that was born on the racetrack, has introduced two new sportscars linked to its return to racing in 2023. Both cars will be available to well-healed private racing drivers and teams, and both are based on the new MC20 supercar.

The most recent addition is the Maserati Project24 of which only 62 units will be available, and which is a solely track-focused version of the MC20. It was designed by Centro Stile Maserati, while the race engineers at The Trident tapped 740 horsepower from the new V6 Nettuno engine. Dry weight is pegged at 1 250 kg.
Maserati previously announced that a new MC20 GT2, also sporting the Nettuno engine, has been homologated for the 2023 Fanatec European Series Championship. Like the Project24, this model is fitted with Maserati’s unique twin combustion technology (MTC), which features a pre-chamber and in-cylinder ignition system. Interestingly, this technology was borrowed from Formula 1 and now returns to the track in the GT2 series on this special Maserati.

Maserati will, of course, also compete in Formula E in 2023. The Italian company announced its intention to participate in this series in January this year, where it will be the first Italian vehicle manufacturer to compete. The company is expected to use Formula E to showcase its upcoming electric vehicles, which it is developing under the name of Project Folgore.
“We are driven by our passion, both on the road and on the track. We have a long history of world excellence in motorsport, and we are extremely proud to race with the extraordinary MC20.

“Racing has always been Maserati's natural habitat and now, both in the Fanatec GT2 European Series Championship and in the Formula E Championship, this brand is making a new start from its roots to build the future,” says Davide Grasso, CEO of Maserati.
“Maserati Corse is bridging the link between Formula E factory programme and our road cars with the MC20 GT2. This new step completes the legacy and the legitimacy of Maserati in Motorsport. The MC20 is a fantastic road legal car. We are happy that our passionate customers will enjoy racing with it,” says Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP, STELLANTIS Motorsport.
