Jaguar supports arts, storytelling for gender equality

Jaguar South Africa displayed the exquisite artistry of six women from the 2023 #GiveHerACrown campaign in an event at the South African Consulate in New York. The #GiveHerACrown empowerment platform uses storytelling and the arts to fight for gender equality.

Jaguar worked with the platform on this event to celebrate and showcase the talented women and their stories that are proudly curated from South African roots.

The campaign was acknowledged for its impact, purpose, women empowerment and for creating a platform to celebrate South African stories and creativity. The artists each created a bespoke piece on the theme of “Celebrating the exquisite details”.

Each piece portrayed a story to inspire and encourage women to embrace their uniqueness and individuality. As a result of Jaguar exhibiting the artists’ work in such a renowned venue, two of the designs have now found a home at the South African Consulate in New York.

Bus donated for bus driver training

UD Trucks Southern Africa (UDTSA) announced the expansion of its steadily growing “Ultimate Women Programme” in partnership with the Commercial Transport Academy (CTA).

Owing to the success and enduring impact of the programme in the last two years, the CTA’s first-ever Bus Driver Development Programme has been established – in a joint venture with the CTA, Southern African Bus Operators Association (SABOA), Clarendon Transport Underwriting Managers (CTU) and UDTSA. There are approximately 30 female trainees who will benefit directly from this life-changing initiative, and in an effort to intensify the training process, UDTSA proudly sponsored a new Croner Bus PKE 280 65-Seater to CTA.

The UDTSA “Ultimate Women Programme” was successfully launched in 2022 with its primary objective to drive gender-transformation initiatives in the transport industry - for which UDTSA sponsored two new Kuzer light-medium duty trucks.

During the Bus Driver Development Programme, the participants will undergo extensive training for a period of 12 months, which will cover technical modules such as vehicle operation and control, defensive driving techniques, traffic laws and regulations as well as route navigation or planning.
