Mahindra goes big at Nampo

Mahindra South Africa is showcasing its most ambitious presence yet at the Nampo Agricultural Show in Bothaville, Free State, which opened on 13 May and continues until this Friday.

For the first time, Mahindra's central location on Mahindra Lane within the main showgrounds will feature a permanent structure, underscoring the company's long-term commitment to both the Nampo show and the South African farming community.

Following last year's successful format, Mahindra's main stand will be divided into two distinct sections: one showcasing Mahindra Authentic Pik Ups and SUVs, and the other displaying the company's extensive range of agricultural equipment.

While Mahindra is widely recognised for its rugged and reliable bakkies that first gained popularity within the farming community, it is also the world's largest manufacturer of tractors by volume, a fact that underscores its deep roots in agriculture.

Three product highlights will headline at this year's display:

  • The XUV 3XO was recently voted the Motor Enthusiasts’ Choice at the South African Car of the Year competition.
  • The XUV 700 Black Edition is a premium special edition featuring an all-black leather interior, blacked-out chrome trim, large gloss black alloy wheels, special decals and a range of unique features befitting a premium SUV.
  • The third highlight is the XUV 3XO Thula Sindi Edition, a special collaboration with renowned fashion designer Thula Sindi. It features custom exterior elements, reworked upholstery and distinctive interior trim. First unveiled as a concept last year, where it received overwhelming positive response, this special edition has been refined for commercial availability.

The Thuli Sindi XUV 3XO was shown in concept form at the Mahindra Fusion Fest, which attracted nearly 7 000 fans to the Sunbelt Arena last year and celebrated the convergence of music, art and fashion — an ethos that will also be brought to life at Nampo.

Visitors to the Mahindra stand can experience their very own Mahindra Fusion Fest, including live performances by celebrated artists popular among farmers and visitors, such as social media sensation Klein Kwagga. Mahindra has also created a specially curated road trip playlist featuring songs submitted by Mahindra fans, which will be available on Spotify.

"Mahindra started its journey in South Africa in the farming community, knowing full well that if it could prove its toughness and value for money to this segment, then the rest would follow," says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.

"Now, 21 years later, we not only sell over 1 000 Pik Ups in South Africa every month, but we assemble these vehicles locally at our semi-knocked down (SKD) facility, in KwaZulu-Natal. This investment underscores our commitment to the country and its communities.”
