Kiara driving change, one pink truck at a time

In a move that’s turning heads across the transport industry, Kiara Baijnath (photo), the founder and director of HerWay Logistics, is redefining what it means to be a woman in trucking by adding another pink Mercedes-Benz Actros 2645 to her fleet.

Inspired by childhood memories riding alongside her grandfather, a truck driver, Kiara’s journey into logistics was fuelled by a passion for adventure and a desire to challenge the status quo.

“I’ve always envisioned myself as a girl boss and a thrill seeker,” says Kiara. “When the opportunity to enter the transport business came up, I grabbed it with both hands. It’s something that’s been close to my heart since I was a little girl.”

She describes HerWay Logistics as a dynamic, customer-focused company offering comprehensive local and long-haul transport solutions across diverse industry sectors and corporate organisations. Established in 2024, they are committed to building a reputation for reliability in transporting goods and parcels both locally and nationally.

The choice of vehicle was no coincidence. “The Actros aligns perfectly with our company’s goal of fuel efficiency, safety and reliability,” Kiara explains. “And pink? It’s my favourite colour. It represents womanhood and strength. There aren’t many women in this industry, and I wanted to make a bold statement.”

Her message to other women considering a career in commercial transport is clear and empowering: “Step into this field. It’s exciting and full of opportunity. Yes, there will be challenges, but we’ll overcome them with strength. Be yourself, live your dreams and know that anything is possible.”

Kiara’s story is not just about trucks, it’s about transformation. Through HerWay Logistics, she hopes to inspire a new generation of women across South Africa to pursue careers in transport and logistics, proving that the road to success is wide open.

“We are happy to have Kiara as part of the Mercedes-Benz Trucks family and to celebrate this exciting milestone with her as she takes delivery of her sixth Mercedes-Benz Actros,” comments Mark Croxon (CEO of Sandown Motor Holdings).

“I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Kiara. At DTSA, we’re inspired by pioneers like Kiara, driving change and opening doors for the next generation of women in logistics. Your determination and vision are truly commendable. We look forward to a strong and growing partnership with HerWay Logistics,” says Maretha Gerber (President and Group CEO of Daimler Truck Southern Africa).
