Relief for communities that have been left destitute following the recent spate of torrential flooding in the Eastern Cape will benefit from a donation of R100 000. The Isuzu Foundation teamed up with Gift of the Givers to help rebuild communities affected by the flooding.
The Isuzu Foundation is a partnership between Isuzu Motors South Africa and its Dealer Network. For every Isuzu pick-up, truck or Mu-X sold to a customer, Isuzu and its dealers will contribute equally to the Isuzu Foundation.
Isuzu Department Executive, Marcia Mayaba (Dealer & Business Development South African Customs Union Markets says: “Isuzu has seen the emotional impact of the floods on our communities, it has been devastating and cannot be ignored. The persistent heavy rains have wreaked havoc forcing over 1 500 adults and children to take shelter at community halls in Komani.”
The Isuzu Foundation has heeded the call and appeal made by disaster management teams, local Dealership, Jacksons Isuzu, the local municipality and Komani community members. The R100 000 donation will offer aid to the displaced families most affected, providing necessities such as food, clothing, bedding and toiletries.
“Gift of the Givers and our trusted partner Isuzu and the Foundation will bring light, hope and dignity to the Komani flood-affected families with a R100 000 donation towards school shoes and school uniforms after families lost everything owing to the devastating floods,” says Gift of the Givers Eastern Cape Coordinator, Corene Conradie.
“Jacksons Isuzu strives for active participation and support for the people of Komani and its greater surroundings. We are committed to various projects in our community and are thrilled and humbled to be able to support those in need after the devastating floods in Komani”, says Patrick Casey, Dealer Principal of Jacksons Isuzu, situated in Komani.
The Isuzu Foundation has touched and enriched the lives of many South Africans. Since 2010, this initiative has enabled grants of more than R16 million to be made to approximately 80 projects.
