Chery is taking the car-buying experience into the future by blending technology with a human touch.
At the JOYSTAR 4S dealership in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, visitors were treated to a glimpse of this new era as a humanoid robot gracefully entered the showroom floor.
The humanoid welcomed guests, introduced vehicle features, served beverages and helped to schedule test drives — all in a calm, friendly tone that made it feel less like a machine and more like a helpful host.
The demonstration forms part of Chery’s broader ambition to reimagine the car-buying journey. It uses intelligent service to make every interaction smoother, warmer and more connected.
Its name? The AiMOGA Robot — a highly intelligent humanoid co-developed by Chery and the AiMOGA team. As the first embodied intelligent humanoid in Chery’s smart ecosystem, the AiMOGA Robot has officially taken on its role as an “Intelligent Sales Consultant” and is making its official debut on the international stage.
From a virtual avatar on a screen to a full-size figure in a physical showroom, the Aimoga Robot has made a technological leap – from the imagined to the real.
The AiMOGA Robot is equipped with an on-device multimodal sensing model that integrates inputs from vision, speech and other modalities. This allows it to accurately interpret user commands, physical gestures and the surrounding showroom environment.
It leverages a bionic motion system and automotive-grade hardware to support upright walking and dexterous hand operations. It has also achieved multi-robot coordination, enabling collaborative tasks such as guided tours and reception services alongside other robots. At the decision-making layer, the AiMOGA Robot harnesses the power of CheryGPT and Deepseek large models to understand natural language semantics and generate personalised, context-aware responses.
The name AiMOGA blends AI (Artificial Intelligence) with MOGA (Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm), encapsulating both a forward-looking technical philosophy and a phonetic echo of the Chinese name. It reflects the brand’s global orientation and deep-rooted technological foundation.
The AiMOGA Robot is now officially deployed at Chery 4S dealerships. It is capable of conducting vehicle introductions, welcoming customers, guiding test drives and autonomously switching between tasks — all while supporting multilingual interactions.
“Chery is changing the way people buy cars,” says Verene Petersen, National Marketing Manager for Chery South Africa. “With the AiMOGA Robot, we’re using technology to bring a more helpful experience into our retail spaces — one that feels less transactional and more connected. It’s not just about making things easier; it’s about making them better.”
Chery captured attention at this year’s Auto Shanghai with a dynamic display at the Chery Life exhibition, headlined by the debut of its AiMOGA Robot. The humanoid robot, accompanied by a robotic dog, impressed visitors with a series of engaging performances, including welcoming routines, flash mob-style dances and interactive challenge games.

A busy year awaits OMODA & JAECOO, with the all-new JAECOO J7 SHS and the OMODA C7 PHEV just two of the new, electrified models due to reach South African shores later this year.
