The Fleet Safety Awards for 2025 have been launched. The entry platform was opened at the South African Association for Fleet Professionals (AFP) Colloquium. Fleet managers and organisations aspiring to be crowned one of the winners for 2025, can already submit their entries.
The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says the Fleet Safety Awards event is in its fourth year following significant growth each year since starting in 2022. “As was the case from previous years, several improvements have been made to support the growth that will be inevitable this year as well.
“Most significant of these is the addition of two new categories for the 2025 awards. The Fleet Safety Awards have evolved with society and, consequently, recognise the importance of sustainable business practices. We are excited to see the awards evolve to meet the importance of sustainable initiatives. No fleet strategy would be complete if one did not consider the impact on the environment,” he says.

Additionally, the cumulative value of the cash prizes was increased by a further R50 000. “This year entrants stand a chance of winning their share of R250 000 in both cash and other prizes for their dedication to promoting road safety.
“Furthermore, MasterDrive is dedicated to showing our appreciation to entrants for supporting and entering the Awards. Over the next five months, a lucky draw will be hosted where names will be randomly selected to win valuable and enjoyable experiences and prizes,” Eugene says.
During last year’s Awards ceremony, a commitment was made to double the entries from the 250 achieved in 2024 to 500 this year. “The team is highly anticipating setting a new record in the number of entries and, consequently, the commitment to road safety. The Fleet Safety Awards started with slightly over 100 and multiplying this by 5 will be a huge achievement.
“The 2025 Fleet Safety Awards promise to far exceed expectations. Each year the Awards grow phenomenally, and we anticipate the same this year to better recognise and award South Africa’s examples of road safety. We look forward to receiving your entry,” he says.
It is more good news about car sales for May with new-vehicle figures of 45 308 units, which reflected an increase of 8 169 units, or a substantial gain of 22.0%, from the 37 139 vehicles sold in May 2024, buoyed by relatively stable economic fundamentals earlier in the year.
May 2025 was a consequential month for South Africa’s automotive sector, marked by a long-anticipated shift in the monetary policy cycle.
