The criteria for winners are straightforward – those who spent most in rand value at the AVAF trade centres during 2023.

Charl Potgieter, Managing Executive of ABSA AVAF, told representatives of the dealerships that even though there was a slight recovery after the COVID pandemic, that it had been a “tough 18 months”. He said in light of the government of national unity and more than 100 days without load-shedding, he was confident about the future and that he sensed a positive sentiment in the country. He said he was also confident that the second half of 2024 would be better in the automotive industry “as it has always been traditionally”.

Johan de Necker, Senior Manager of Trade Centres at AVAF, thanked the dealerships, saying they are the crucial foundation of AVAF’s business. He expressed his hope that through robust and continued communication, the relationship between ABSA and them would deepen.

Top performer and regular winner in the Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance (AVAF) Top Ten Buyers Awards, Botha & Deysel, did so once again this year.

Botha & Deysel’s, relationship with Absa stretches over 30 years. Says Armand Botha, Director of the Botha & Deysel Group: “The relationship between Absa and us is one we cherish and which was established many decades ago. Not only are we a top partner in the buying of vehicles from Absa at auction, but also as a retailer of the pre-owned cars.

“Our relationship has come a full circle, from buying to selling and other bank services as well. It also became a circle of friendship with the great service we received from the various divisions and teams of the bank. We are fortunate that business is going well for us, and the part that Absa plays in our success cannot be underestimated,” Armand says.

Botha & Deysel is celebrating its 41st anniversary in the pre-owned car business this year.

Botha & Deysel Boksburg cemented its dominance at the Absa awards with a second spot. “We achieved a second place yet again, for the fifth consecutive time, and we have been one of the ten top dealerships for this award since 2005,” says Arnold van den Bergh, Dealer Principal.

“Our relationship with Absa is important beyond words. We are able to sell quality vehicles to the customers owing to the quality of vehicles we buy from Absa and the first-class service we receive from them. Our market focus on more upper-level vehicles and the stock Absa has available for us fit like a glove,” Arnold tells us.
