The Hyundai Motor Company started the year on a winning streak, announcing its win of four accolades at the 2020 Good Design awards late last year.
In the Awards’ Transport category, Hyundai’s most progressive EV concepts, namely the 45 and the Prophecy, together with the all-new Hyundai Elantra and the Hyundai Hi-Charger, were recognised for their inherent design excellence.
According to a Hyundai media statement, the Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Center, SangYup Lee, said Hyundai’s design vision to provide lifestyle mobility that coexists with people’s lives has been recognised through winning the awards. “Especially through our EV design, we would like to forge a strong emotional connection between humans and automobiles, giving more value to our customer’s everyday life,” Lee said.
Although the wins of the electric vehicles are concepts, both the 45 and the Prophecy also won big during 2020 at various world-renowned design competitions. This should raise expectations for Hyundai’s first dedicated EV in the new IONIQ line-up brand, which is being launched internationally later this year.
The Hyundai Hi-Charger was crowned a winner by demonstrating the brand’s commitment to offer a new charging experience to EV owners. The 350kW ultra-fast charger enables users to easily power their EVs without feeling the weight of connectors and cables. It states that the user simply chooses the position of a vehicle’s charging point on a digital screen, and a connector automatically rotates and descends to the selected point for an effortless connection.
