Range anxiety, a “chronic illness” most electric vehicle drivers experience, has been turned on its head by Volvo with its latest EX60 range.
The new Volvo EX60 made its international debut and is due to arrive in South Africa in Q3 2026.
How far?
All three engine variants boast class leading driving ranges, Volvo claims. The P12 AWD Electric offers up to an 810km range, the P10 AWD Electric delivers a 660km range, and the rear-wheel-drive P6 Electric provides up to 620km on a single charge.
Under the skin:
Underpinned by Volvo Cars’ SPA3 architecture and the HuginCore core system, the EX60 leverages cell to body technology, in house developed next generation e motors, advanced battery cell design and megacasting to improve efficiency, range and weight.

The five-seater, family friendly EX60 ends range anxiety, delivers a groundbreaking user experience and represents the next frontier in safety. It is also Volvo Cars’ first entry in the largest electric segment globally, allowing it to substantially increase its addressable market and electric market share.
For those who love music, the EX60 is an excellent choice with a premium 28 speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system. For the first time in a Volvo car, this system also includes headrest speakers in all four main seats.
Range and charging:
The EX60 can travel up to a best in class 810 kilometres on a single charge in an all-wheel drive configuration. This does not only make it go further than any electric car Volvo Cars has ever created, but it also beats its recently revealed competitors, setting a new standard for its segment.
That same no compromises approach is reflected in how fast it charges. A quick coffee stop is enough to recharge and get back on the road. The EX60 can add up to 340km of range in just ten minutes when using a 400kW fast charger.
The electric models will deliver anything from 275 to 375kW, depending on the model.
In other words, the EX60 turns range anxiety into range comfort and demonstrates that going electric is no longer a compromise. Design, engineering, hardware and software all work together to create a car that optimises driving range and matches many petrol cars.
The EX60 comes with a ten-year battery warranty. In Sweden, the EX60 will also include three years of free home charging. This offer applies immediately to private customers in Sweden before being rolled out to other markets.
