TruckStore, the used trucks and buses retail outlet of Daimler Trucks & Buses Southern Africa (DTBSA), recently relocated to a bigger (30 000m2) and more prominent facility to accommodate growing customer demands and future growth plans.
In a strategic move to expand its footprint across South Africa, the new premise benefits from the N1 highway visibility between the OR Tambo and Lanseria International Airport, thereby creating easy access and convenience for customers. Added to that, the plan is to integrate fully into the existing authorised Daimler Trucks and Busses SA (DTBSA) dealer network, thereby making TruckStore products and services available across all major cities in South Africa, ensuring dedication and the best sales experience going forward.
According to Annelie van Rooyen, Head of Used Trucks, they are immensely excited about the new development. “Taking such bold steps amidst a pandemic, Centurion remains a perfect location for our business. The new facility will give us an opportunity to better serve our growing customer base, provide an improved customer experience and increase service capacity. This move represents a milestone for TruckStore and will certainly create opportunities for growth and strengthen the brand’s position in Southern Africa.”
Apart from a 1200m2 showroom and office space, the facility showcases an approximately 3000m2 fully-equipped and dedicated Mercedes-Benz approved workshop and parts centre for MB TruckParts and Fuso Value Parts. Included also are ten dedicated bus service bays. The workshop also provides capacity for non-Daimler brands as well as servicing of trailers. This is an extension of value added services and forms part of TruckStore’s overall strategy of being a one-stop shop to its customers.
Michael Dietz, CEO of DTBSA, said in a statement they are an industry leading used commercial vehicle retailer, taking the business to greater heights with the move to the new facility since it established itself as the best performing TruckStore outlet globally. “Reflecting on the TruckStore journey and seeing how this solid business model has been well adopted across Southern Africa is commendable,” he said.
“We are proud of this new business model as it reaffirms our commitment to continuously support our customers irrespective of where they are. We are taking an important step in our business as we see capacity for sales growth, not only for TruckStore, but for our dealer partners as well. We want to provide the same level of sales and after-sales service that a customer would receive when purchasing a new vehicle”.
Unlike in the past, when dealerships primarily waited for customers to come to them, we now take a more proactive approach, bringing our vehicles directly to places where people gather, allowing them to experience the product first-hand, including offering test drives,” says Gerrie van der Kaay, Dealer Principal at Supergroup Dealerships Jetour Midrand.
One of the latest Chinese automotive brands to establish itself in South Africa, GAC Motor, is benefitting from the expertise of well-known motor groups in the country, like the BB Motor Group.
Stellantis has announced the expansion of its multi-franchise dealer network with the addition of the Fiat and Jeep brands to the existing Westvaal Motor Group dealership in Klerksdorp in North West Province.
