The Thorp Motor Group did the official breaking of new ground for its latest and most ambitious development yet – a brand-new Motor City in Sandown that will bring four of the Group’s leading vehicle brands together on the same terrain.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by members of the Thorp family, including Warren and Nicky Thorp (photo) who, together, celebrated this major milestone for the business. The Motor City project reflects Thorp Motor Group’s commitment to long-term growth, customer convenience and continued investment in the communities it serves, the group says.
“This new development is a symbol of our vision for the future,” says Nicky Thorp, Director at Thorp Motor Group. “We’re highly excited to expand our footprint in the Sandown, Table View area and to offer a central, customer-friendly space where our clients can explore, purchase and service vehicles from four top automotive brands – all at one venue.”

The new Motor City is set to become a motoring hub for the Bloubergstrand and West Coast areas and is designed to offer:
* Dedicated showroom spaces for five major vehicle brands, namely: Suzuki, Chery, GWM, Omoda Jaecoo and Jetour.
* On-site customer care and service facilities.
A modern, streamlined experience for vehicle sales and support.
As a proudly family-owned business with over three decades in the automotive industry, Thorp Motor Group is focused on enhancing customer experiences through innovative developments, exceptional service and community-driven initiatives, it says.
The construction of Motor City is currently under way, and the Group plans to share regular updates on progress across its social media platforms and website. Customers and partners are invited to come along and be part of this exciting journey. With new brands like Geely, GAC and MG in the pipeline, Motor City will become a truly one-stop destination for the latest in global automotive innovation.
Dealership service departments know the pattern: the moment warranties and service plans expire; a portion of owners quietly migrate to the independent aftermarket.
Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa announced its top-performing Agents and Dealers for 2025, recognising their exceptional dedication, customer service and commitment to the brand.
In today’s automotive retail environment, where new vehicle prices keep climbing beyond the reach of many consumers, used vehicles have become the backbone of dealership profitability.
