Morgan Motor Group Welkom, with its landmark Nissan dealership in the city and strong ties to the Free State, has acquired Mitsubishi, Mahindra, Mazda (servicing only), as well as BYD on the passenger side of the business.
It has long been one of the top UD Trucks dealerships in the region, as well as for Eicher Trucks and Buses. The popular heavy commercial vehicle brand from China, FAW, will now join the commercial and truck side of Morgan Motor Group Welkom.
“We are excited about our new premises, which was previously occupied by a premium German brand that has since left town. We are currently renovating the site and plan to move into our new facility during March,” says Dewet Greyling, Dealer Principal and well-known motorman in Welkom.

“Nissan and Mitsubishi, as well as UD Trucks and Eicher, will remain at our well-known premises in Welkom’s famous Jan Hofmeyrweg, where you will find many new and used car dealerships.
“At the new site we will accommodate Mahindra, BYD, Mazda (servicing) and FAW Trucks. The new dealership is located close to the centre of town, where several other new vehicle dealerships and businesses have relocated in recent years,” Dewet tells Dealerfloor.
He explains that Mahindra will use the newly renovated showroom, with BYD moving into a new designed showroom on the same premises. Mazda and FAW do not require showroom facilities at this stage.

Dewet, who has been part of the Morgan Motor Group since 2006, says that despite the challenges Welkom faces, they remain optimistic about the future of the region and are deeply rooted in the community.
He has built up experience across all departments of a dealership and with various brands over the years. “The new brands are creating a lot of excitement for us in the community, and I trust that with our good reputation we will make an even bigger impact. We have won numerous awards with our brands over the years, underscoring our commitment to first-class service,” Dewet concludes.
