The Legacy Motor Group (LMG) recently appointed its first female to the BMW Group SA Dealership Management team with the announcement that Zee Engelbrecht has taken over the role of General Retail Sales Manager: BMW Rustenburg.
Her impact was immediate when sales staff met 107% of their sales targets within a month of her arrival, proving that her personal touch and individual approach ticked all the right boxes in managing staff successfully.
“I am in my happiest of happy places when I am among my staff while we focus on performing and selling one of the most trusted and loved brands, namely BMWs,” she told Dealerfloor.
The Legacy Motor Group (LMG) is a 100% black-owned automotive retail group, which was founded in 2008. Representing five BMW dealerships (BMW Menlyn, BMW Montana, BMW Joburg City, BMW Rustenburg and BMW Polokwane) and three MINI dealerships (MINI Menlyn, MINI Montana and MINI Joburg City), the Group has more than 400 employees.
Zee started her career at an Insurance company before she was spotted providing an excellent service for the LMG Group from an insurance point of view. Shortly thereafter she started work at BMW Menlyn where she took part in the internal development programme and retail cadette programme.
“The internal training programme made me realise that one can be one’s own worst enemy, seeing yourself as less than what you can be,” she said, pointing out the exceptional role Dr Althea Foster, Chief Human Resources Officer at LMG, played in her career growth.
“I now understand that I can keep on pushing to become the best version of myself and at the same time playing a significant role in the exciting expansion plans of the LMG Group to eventually take over the world,” she smiled.
When Zee is not managing a very strong sales team in Rustenburg, you will find her writing down her thoughts and inventing inspirational quotes or holidaying off the coast in Mozambique.
