Korean automaker Hyundai has been an unmitigated success in the SA new car space. The relative newcomer to the market has been a consistent top-five feature on the new-car sales charts. There are many reasons for this, including good, reliable products at competitive prices. In part, the success is also driven by innovation.
The willingness to innovate has resulted in the creation of the new Hyundai Kenilworth hub. This is a new form of retail dealership aimed at making vehicle-shopping consumer experiential, rather than transactional.
“For many South Africans, a journey to purchasing or exploring a new vehicle has long been hindered by practical challenges such as travel times. With this concept, we want to offer convenience when it comes to shopping for a Hyundai vehicle,” stated Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa. “Exploring a new vehicle should feel natural, enjoyable and not disrupt a customer’s lifestyle and things they enjoying doing.”
The new sales experience is located at Access Park Mall in Kenilworth. The location in the Southern Suburbs is at one of Cape Town’s busiest shopping destinations. Placing a ‘dealership’ here brings the brand directly to where people live, work and shop.
Hyundai Hub is devising strategic innovations to bring the same dealership experience closer to its customers. “The Hyundai Kenilworth is more than a retail space. It is a dynamic, open-door environment designed to simplify every stage of car shopping to ownership,” stated Mark Torrance, Hyundai Automotive South Africa Western Cape regional manager.
Hyundai will offer interactive digital shopping tools, onsite test-driving of various models, vehicle comparative features and direct engagements with sales teams on financing options. Existing Hyundai owners can even book their vehicle in for a service at a conveniently located service centre.
Anderson stated that the company plans to roll-out more similar hubs across the country next year. But he is quick to point out that the existing dealer network of over 100 locations still remains firmly in place. The next likely hub will be place in Soweto in the short term, with a few more planned as 2026 progresses.
