BMW hands out silverware to winners

BMW South Africa held its annual Retailer of the Year awards ceremony where BMW, Mini and BMW Motorrad dealers were recognised for their achievements during 2022.

“The 2022 Retailer of the Year awards for BMW Group South Africa are a great success. We are delighted and honoured to be able to showcase the achievements of our incredible investors and retail partners throughout the year – even in tough economic times,” says Renier Beneke (General Manager for Customer and Brand at BMW SA).

There are four overall top titles for Retailer of the Year, two for BMW (large) and BMW (medium & small), MINI and BMW Motorrad.

Here are Renier Beneke (General Manager: Customer and Brand), Shane Frandsen (DP at BMW & MINI, Motorrad East Rand) and Peter van Binsbergen, (CEO: BMW Group South Africa).

The top winning dealerships for 2022 are:

BMW Retailer of the Year (large): BMW East Rand.

BMW Retailer of the Year (medium & small): BMW Cape Town City.

MINI Retailer of the Year: MINI Bedfordview.

BMW Motorrad Retailer of the Year: BMW Motorrad East Rand.

BMW East Rand and BMW Bedfordview belong to the same independent group. It is privately owned by the Vermaak Family (74.9%) and Imbani Holdings (25.1%)) and includes three BMW/MINI dealerships in Gauteng and two Approved Repair Centres in Gauteng.

Here are Robert Gearing (General Manager: Customer Support), Ryan Rheeder (DP at BMW Cape Town City) and Peter van Binsbergen (CEO: BMW Group South Africa).

BMW Cape Town City is part of SMG (Sean McCarthy Group) with a network of 24 branches, representing BMW, MINI, Jaguar, Land Rover, Toyota, Chery, Yamaha and five Approved Repair Centres situated across KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.

Shane Frandsen (DP at BMW & MINI, Motorrad East Rand) congratulated every single member of the team that made the top spots in the two categories a possibility.

“I am extremely proud of what we achieved, and I want to say thank you to every single person involved in the end result,” Shane says.

“BMW East Rand has won numerous awards the last couple of years. These include 2021 (Sales Retailer of the Year Runner-up), 2020 (BMW Financial Services Highest volume), 2019 (Best Dealer in Aftersales XS-M 3rd Place, 2018 (BMW Retailer of Year XS-M), 2018 (BMW Financial Services Dealer of the Year), 2018 (BMW Financial Services Highest volume) and then the two latest top awards, 2022 BMW (Retailer of the Year) and 2022 Motorrad (Retailer of the Year).

Guy Kilfoil (DP at BMW & MINI Bedfordview) says he is extremely proud to say that each and every one of the 100 staff members at the dealership once again embodied their culture of excellence at the 2022 BMW South Africa Retailer of the Year Awards.

“We have been incredibly consistent in these awards over the past 7 years:
2016 (MINI Dealer of the Year), 2017 (BMW Dealer of the Year), 2018 BMW (Dealer of the Year Runner-up), 2019 MINI Dealer of the Year 3rd Place) and 2021 (BMW Retailer of the Year Runner-up).

“However, to finish in first (as 2022 MINI Retailer of the Year) and third place (3rd Place 2022 BMW Retailer of the Year) in the two biggest awards of the night, is just extra special. Thank you to all our staff for showing up every single day and always trying to delight our customers and improve our business. I am truly proud of them all. These accolades are theirs and are so well deserved,” Guy says.

Ryan Rheeder (DP at BMW Cape Town City) in his reaction to winning the top title in the medium & small category, quoted Luke 18:27: “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

He says previous awards include, 2020 (MINI Sales Retailer of the Year), 2021 (MINI Corporate Sales Retailer of the Year), 2021 (MINI Sales Retailer of the Year) and 2022 (BMW Dealer of the Year).

Winners of other Retailer of the Year 2022 awards are:

BMW Social Responsibility Award (BMW Durban South) and BMW Approved Repair Centre of The Year (Place Supertech Pietermaritzburg).

Aftersales:

BMW Northcliff, BMW Pinetown (medium & small), (MINI Pinetown) and BMW Motorrad Mbombela).

Financial Services:

BMW Midrand (large), BMW Pinetown (medium & small), MINI Midrand and BMW Motorrad West Rand).

Corporate Sales:

BMW Centurion) and MINI Montana.
